Cold Storage by David Koepp reads like an action thriller movie from the 90’s in the best way possible. Roberto Diaz isn’t just another muscular, by-the-books, handsome face. He’s multilayered, flawed, and willing to put on his life on the line to save countless others. Even, when in his early 50’s. Teacake (another character) is written in a way that makes him relatable, even if the the reader doesn’t share his experiences. The author writes Naomi in a way that gave me LIFE! He doesn’t give her the classic ‘Black-cent’ that some authors attribute to their African American characters. She is fully fleshed out and her vernacular isn’t made to be based to on her ethnicity. A fast paced novel with adrenaline and smarts pumping all throughout, you will love this book if movies such as Face Off and Broken Arrow are your jam.
