This is a story filled with unrequited love. Minseo loves Charlotte, but she can’t love him. The man that she lives with is in love with someone who is long dead and can never love him back. Charlotte is still in love with Young even though she knows she’ll never see him again. Merlin loves Lancelot, but the would be knight only has eyes for his beloved Gwen. Gwen has love for Lancelot, but of course, these ladies in waiting aren’t loyal. So much love to go around and yet nobody wants the flavor they’ve been given.
In this book, Charlotte is no longer the head strong teenager she once was, but an adult and single mother whose primary concern is the health and well being of her daughter, Morgana. She’s in a ‘lavender ‘ marriage with a man by the name of Gabe. Neither of them are sexually interested in the other (Gabe keeps getting beat up for being gay), but they do have a deep friendship. So much so, Morgana, her daughter, sees him as a father figure.
Charlotte is still totting her blade and not afraid to use it when a sober Minseo shows up in her town. He hasn’t forgotten how much he loved her despite Charlotte being married to his younger brother. And Charlotte still feels the butterflies in her stomach come alive when she sees him. With Lancelot on their tail accompanied by a super charged Merlin, things get hairy and quarters cramped. In my opinion, both Charlotte and Minseo’s father make poor choices that lead them to immediate satisfaction but probably wont work out in the long run. Who knows. All I know is, waiting for the final book to come out in August is going to be hard.
